This exhibition examines the history, cultural importance, and legacy of New York State granges. Baugnet's images of grange exteriors and interiors feature strong lines and evocative displays of light and shadow. The large-scale back and white photographs offer a stunning homage to the beauty and simplicity of these buildings. Baugnet became fascinated by New York State grange buildings decades ago after following signs advertising a chicken dinner. Since then, he has spent much of his career photographing grange buildings across the state. Baugnet specializes in documenting historic architecture and the built environment. His grange photographs are visually compelling and serve as important records of rural communities.
